Mr Rainer Hoefling, CEO of Borouge PTE, shared what circularity is from a polyolefin producer’s perspective at the UAE-Singapore Business Council (UAESBC)’s Oil, Petrochemical and Logistics (OPL) Seminar on 13 September 2023.

Presenting alongside other UAE companies based in Singapore at the OPL event with the theme of “Sustainability & Net Zero Carbon Emissions”, Mr Hoefling highlighted how Borouge plays a key role as a responsible and sustainable petrochemical company through his presentation titled: Circularity from a Leading Polyolefin Producer’s Perspective.

The event was attended by close to 100 participants, and was graced by Guest-of-Honour Mr Lee Yi Shyan, Chairman of Business China and Patron of UAESBC, as well as His Excellency (HE) Mohamed Alzarooni, Head of Economic Affairs, UAE Ambassador to Singapore and Strategic Partner of the UAESBC.

During the session, Mr Hoefling shared what are the biggest challenges to achieving a circular economy, and explained how the four pillars under Borouge’s House of Circularity can help to mitigate circularity challenges.

Mr Hoefling concluded his session with a key message that to achieve a circular economy, it requires the co-operation of all parties across the value chain.
