Borealis Borstar® enhanced linear low density polyethylene (lldpe)

A unique product offering that delivers performance and cost efficiency

Borstar®, a state-of-the-art multi-modal proprietary technology owned by Borealis, is at the core of Borouge’s innovation. The Borealis Borstar® technology supports the production of a wide range of enhanced PE and PP products for the most demanding applications by enabling tailor-made solutions through flexible design . The Borstar® process offers simultaneous improvements in conversion economics as well as key environmental aspects such as energy efficiency and raw material recycling.

Borstar® is recognised with its improved processability and mechanical properties and shorter cycle times for customers offering them competitive advantages. The technology ensures low energy consumption and leading circular economy performance, in addition to attractive economics for customers.

The Borstar® technology is based on a dual reactor process for bimodal production that yields broad molecular weight distribution while also providing a balance of processability and mechanical strength. Borstar® provides us with a competitive edge (as its bimodality is key to product design and application performance), and can be operated at scale, and with low operating expenditure, which helps to strengthen our cost position compared to our competitors.

Borstar® enhanced LLDPE resins are used in a wide range of applications like lamination film, collation shrink film, agricultural film, wide width films, geo-membranes etc.
