13 January 2016 - Borouge, a leading petrochemical company that provides innovative, value creating plastics solutions, received one of the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA) Plastics Excellence Awards, jointly with Concept Piping Systems, in recognition of its new innovative plastic copolymer, Borstar® RA140E, under the category of ‘Joint Development/Improvement of a New Product or Application — Resin Producer & Plastic Converter.’
The awarding of Borouge took place during the Awards ceremony which was held as a side activity of the 7th edition of the annual GPCA Plastic Conversion Conference (PlastiCon 2016) that GPCA has organised in Dubai from 10-12 January 2016 under the theme ‘Evolving GCC Plastic Conversion | Technology Meets Business’.
Borstar® RA140E is a new multimodal polypropylene PP-R random grade that meets new market needs as the best copolymer to be used to manufacture plastic pipes for heating, plumbing and domestic water systems with excellent processability and unique property profile. The grade was jointly developed by Borouge and Concept Piping Systems, a key customer of Borouge in Ras Al Khaimah, leading to a third generation multi-modal PP-R material which shows an excellent balance between mechanical properties and processability.
Borouge’s winning copolymer is recognised with its uniqueness as a plastic product that is highly needed in the market. It’s also the result of a fruitful cooperation between a resin producer (Borouge) and a plastic converter (Concept Piping Systems) from concept to execution. The winning plastics solution, when used to make pipes and fittings, is also an enabler for export to international markets including the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
