8 December 2015 - The Borouge Sales and Marketing office in Shanghai, occupying more than 5,000 square meters of two floors at Sandhill Plaza has been awarded a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification in the commercial interior category.
The LEED rating system, developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), is the foremost certification program for buildings, offices, homes and communities that are designed, constructed, maintained and operated for improved environmental and human health performance.
Borouge, a leading provider of innovative plastics solutions, conducts its business within the framework of its corporate values, vision and mission; applying best practices and pursuing continuous improvement in the execution of its business strategy.
The company is committed to minimising waste and emissions, enhancing energy performance and optimising the use of natural resources, especially water, while at the same time providing plastics solutions that addresses global challenges, such as climate change, water, food, energy, healthcare and waste.
Based on its commitment to sustainability, in its new office in Shanghai, Borouge supported the use of materials and furnishings that meet specific standards for compound emission levels; natural lighting from the large windows as well as the automatic sensory system that are installed in offices and conference rooms helps reduce total energy consumption.
“This is the first Borouge office in Asia to earn such accolades. It reflects our culture of focus; delivering on what employees and customers expect when we say we commit to sustainable practices,” said Wim Roels, CEO, Borouge Pte Ltd.
According to USGBC recent data, the project environmental performance from Borouge is rated top 12% among all the LEED projects in China, and rank top 10% among all LEED projects in Shanghai.
“We are honoured to receive the LEED Gold recognition. It demonstrates our commitment in working towards the common goal of providing a sustainable workplace environment for our people,” said Vincent Ong, Senior Vice President, Borouge Asia North.
